On Friday, May 23, 2025 the FES staff and students participated in the annual PTO Walk-a-Thon fundraiser. We were so happy that the weather cooperated with us as it rained almost every day this week up until about an hour before the start of the event!
The students are charged with soliciting sponsors for donations, and, depending on their grade level, the students are assigned a minimum number of laps to walk around the school. Considering that the highest maximum number of laps was 6 and the students had a little more than 1 hour to complete the task, it was obvious that they were enjoying their walk as many students were still walking at the 1 hour mark (way more than 6 laps later)!
Older students ‘Buddied up’ with the younger students to ensure that they could safely participate, and other students were timing their laps!
The PTO provided snacks and drinks for everyone and many parent volunteers showed up to ensure that the students received their lap stickers and got what they needed to keep up their strength.
KUDOS to everyone who participated, to the parent volunteers, to the many sponsors, and to the PTO for coordinating the event.
